Me hubiera gustado Jae Lee, pero Romita pues que más se puede pedir.


The next "Sentry" mini-series will be eight issues and feature art by John Romita Jr. Jenkins was reluctant to give plot information as he did not want to spoil Brian Michael Bendis's upcoming "New Avengers" arc, which features the Sentry and leads into this new mini series. "We're going to do a story in which, if you thought that keeping The Sentry secret was a big deal, if you thought that was a big secret kept from the Marvel universe, wait till you find out the secret that's really going on," Jenkins explained. "It's much deeper and more profound than that."


Jenkins did drop hints about the dark secret to be revealed in the new "Sentry" mini-series. "We'll get to the absolute truth about why he became the Sentry. What it actually means. There's a big secret in there; a big, deep, dark secret of the Marvel Universe, that once people find out they'll go, 'Wow that's really kind of Earth shattering.' It means a lot to the universe. It's one of the reasons why the Sentry is so dangerous."

In the new "Sentry" series readers will not only learn more about the Sentry, but Rob Reynolds as well. "We're trying to talk about who the Sentry is, where he comes from, what kind of person he is, what is he capable of being?" Jenkins explained. "But then again, there's his fucked up little alter ego called Rob Reynolds and he's schizophrenic and he struggles. What we're going to do then is we're going to say given this incredibly powered person, this god amongst men, what's his personal life like?"

"The Sentry" es una de las series que he querido leer pero no he tenido el $ paa poder comprarla. Se ve interesante esta nueva mini ademas me gusta el estilo de Romita Jr

je, uno de los pocos proyectos Marvel q' aun me llaman la atención , la miniserie orginal de The Sentry ha sido demasiado subvalorada, es genial, y no espero menos de esta nueva mini, todo ese asunto de un superhéroe con problemas psicológicos graves se me hace muy buena idea ya q' a lo más radical q' se ha llegado a cambiar a un personaje con esas características es convertirlo en un héroe sin escrúpulos, pero nunca tocando si el personaje está loco o no, yo tambien hubiera querido ver a Jae Lee pero Romita Jr es un más que digno sustituto.

A mi la miniserie original me parecio formidable. sin embargo como ya no estoy comprando nuevas series mensualmente sino en TP me falta un ratote para leer esta segunda parte.

Definitivamente la miniserie original de The Sentry y los one-shots son de las pocas historias de Paul Jenkins que en verdad valen la pena y el hecho de que el sea el encargado de escribir esta nueva miniserie ya es casi garantía de que va a estar buena. Solo espero que Bendis no heche a perder la esencia del personaje y que esto vaya a perjudicar el trabajo de Jenkins.

Jae Lee nunca ha servido para hacer droids, aunque Pat Lee (como dirían en Tiny Toons, "sin parentesco") es lo único que hace 1/2 bien.

En Sentry como en Inhumans se tiene un sabor oscuro que se disfrutaba con Jae, pero Insisto, teniendo a Romita ya no me importa mucho.

Lo de la coordinación de Bendis con Jenkins creo que fue muy buena, ya que recurdo el haber leído que Jenkins apoyó en la historia para el arc del Sentry en Avengers y acabando esta tengo entendido que saldrá la mini de Sentry.

Pues sigo promocionando esta serie y ahora más porque creo que tiene razón y sabe ver sus punto flacos Jenkins por lo que me gusta y me gusta su propuesta, su honestidad en lo que no le gustó de Spider-man y su amor al personaje.




“When I left The Sentry, he went back to the status quo, and became Bob Reynolds again, an agoraphobic, schizophrenic guy living with his dog, wife, and cat. In New Avengers, he was first seen sitting in jail, saying that he had killed his wife. That raised a lot of problems, namely, if he’s the Sentry, where’s the Void who he has to watch and keep in check?

“So, Bendis was charged that issues #7-#10 had to explain how he came back. That’s not my job – my stories start with him being back. I don’t want to tell about how he came back, I have my own stories to tell with him. What Brian set up will allow me carte blanche to do what I want to do with the character.”

As for what he’s going to do, Jenkins pointed to editor Tom Brevoort, thanking him for the suggestion. “There was a stretch of Spider-Man stories that I had to write last year, that were these multi-part stories that I really didn’t like, and wasn’t into,” Jenkins said. “Marvel didn’t force me to do it – they asked, and I gave it a try, and it just didn’t work out. Tom, who’s a great editor, knows that I’m good at single issues so how we’re structuring things, the miniseries is going to be a series of single issue stories with a thread.

“Issue #1 will be what it feels like to be the Sentry, to be messed up, and to have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Issue #2 – how does it feel to be married to this guy, and have these marital problems, because he’s a very real person who has terrible, terrible problems. There’s going to be an issue that revolves around the dog. There’s going to be an issue that revolves around the psychiatrist, who has, when you consider it, the most dangerous job in the world – he has to keep this guy in order, and if he doesn’t, the Sentry’s going to go off, and if he goes off, everything’s done for.”

Asked for a few more details, Jenkins was happy to elaborate. “The first issue is called ‘Under the Eye of the Clock,’ and ‘CLOC’ is Sentry’s Centrally Located Organic Computer that lives in the middle of the Watchtower, and is guiding every second of the Sentry’s life. CLOC’s main programming is to extrapolate between various disasters, say a mine shaft disaster in Poland and an earthquake in Japan. CLOC evaluates, and then sends the Sentry to Japan, and the people in Poland have to die.

“Sentry can’t – literally can’t - make that decision personally, so he created CLOC to make the decisions for him. So all throughout the day, he has the running commentary in his head of something like: ‘You’ve got 83 seconds to complete this, because we’ve got terrorists climbing to the top of the Eiffel Tower that need to be stopped. If you don’t complete this in 83 seconds, the terrorists will kill more.’ If he doesn’t meet the deadline, CLOC has already moved on, say, if he misses the terrorists on the Eiffel Tower, the Tower gets blown up, but CLOC is already sending Sentry to Iraq for the next crisis.”

If CLOC’s programming sounds familiar, it’s because Jenkins modeled it after psychiatric therapy for patients who can’t handle daily life, and become paralyzed at the simplest decisions.

“All of those little metaphors are rife throughout the book, as they were in the first series,” Jenkins said. “He lives under the most intense pressure, and he’s also supposed to function as a human being as well. And also, he has a wife – and a life to live aside from all of this. In a sense, the question is raised – how can he justify doing a television spot like ‘The More You Know’ when seven people are being kidnapped in Mexico? Are the lives he saves by doing a seatbelt ad worth more than the lives of the people being kidnapped in Mexico? CLOC decides that for him, and that’s his life, second by second.

“You’d be screwed up too.

“Issue #2 asks what happens when he’s married to the woman who’s been his love since they were childhood sweethearts, but his alter ego is schizophrenic, and no fun to be around. That marriage is dissolving, but she has the hots for the Sentry in a major way. What happens when you’re fighting yourself for your own wife’s attention?

“I’ve got so many of those kinds of stories, and could write him for ten years, easy.”

Que bueno que lo admite. Sus historias multiparte, no importa si las escribió el año pasado o mas atrás, son un verdadero asco. Definitivamente el fuerte de Jenkins es es relatar historias al viejo estilo Marvel (autocontenidas con plot threads a explorarse en el futuro).

alguien por favor podria refrescar mi memoria y decirme como fue que al final de la mini original todos dejan de recordar que el sentry exisitio? esque me cambie de casa y en el cambalache los de la mudanza se llevaron una de mis cajas de comics (tragedia griega ) y ahi estaba ese numero.(por cierto, aun estara ese ultimo numero del sentry en el castle?)

No recuerdo muy bien, segun yo hay un dispositivo creado por Reed Richards que esta conectado en la "watchtower" del Sentry y es el quue provoca que todos lo olviden.

Efectivamente se crea un dispositivo que actua sobre cloc que es como el corazón de la watchtower y que emite ondas apoyado con un virus que le hace aparentemente imposible el corregir el comando y es cuando en un momento de coordura se vuelve a activar el mecanísmo que hace que lo olviden de nueva cuenta, pero ahora sin poder poner el virus en funcionamiento.
Después el sentry olvida y teniendo un final Hollywoodesco comprando un hot dog a su sidekick con un paneo hacia el lector con cara de a pesar de todo si recuerdo algo.

Este dispositivo lo desarrollaron él y Reed, pero el último comando lo dió Robert Reynolds.

Inside the Watchtower, Sentry says that Void’s attacks are getting stronger. He asks Strange to try and protect the outer stasis fields. Reed orders Cloc to disable the alarm. Cloc says that he detects Strange and Reed and asks if this pertains to the reemergence of the Void. Sentry says that it is okay, and that it can act on their orders. He says that he wants the transmitter reactivated. Reed says that they have boosted the signal to almost three times its previous output, and that he has sent himself false information about this being a temporal anomaly. Reed says that it is now or never and asks Robert if he is with him. Sentry falls silent for a moment. He thinks about how he is bigger than god and that he could do anything he wanted, or he can live in a ratty old house with two moth-eaten animals and an aging wife. He can be afraid to go outside again and wither and die. He makes his choice. Sentry tells Cloc that he doesn’t have time to reinstall the virus to make it forget. He says that he is going to leave him running after they reactivate the transmitter. He says that when he does so that Cloc isn’t to try and make any contact with anyone outside the building. He asks if Cloc understands. Cloc says that it understands and thanks him for allowing it to continue with its duties. Sentry thanks Cloc and says that he has been a good servant and a true friend.

Romita antes de regresar a Spider-man

JRJR: Considering what Marvel has offered me next, there’s no way I can’t finish this fast enough. As much fun as I’m going to have on this with Paul, Marvel has things waiting on me that I am salivating over. I’ve got two more things between me and my return to Spider-Man, and all I can really say is that The Sentry is my last out and out superhero project before getting back to it with Spider-Man. It’s going to get a little darker for me from here on out.

Ya sálió el sentry y se centra en su delegación de responsabilidad a Cloc, la computadora que le aligera su tarea de decidir y no "volverse loco", vaya la redundancia.

El número funciona como se mencionó, autocontenido y dentro de la continuidad, es un héroe que lleva el peso del mundo en sus hombros y tiene una gran carga moral que disfraza con su algorítmo de decisión y sus momentos de lucídez mortal como Robert o su constante temor como Void.

Este hombre es un autodestructivo de primera y tiene el poder para destruir todo, es agorafóbico y esquisofrénico, tiene conflictos de intereses y aparte tiene complejo de inferioridad.

Al parecer se echa a Attuma y detiene con mucha sencillez a Terrax ahí nada más para dar muestra de su poder, pero este no tiene tantos miramientos

Si quieren un personaje complejo esta es una excelente opción.

Por cierto excelente la manera de utilizar la canción de Yesterday. y este número es un claro viaje a la manera de pensar y la presión que enfrenta a diario y a cada momento el Sentry.

Pues el numero uno por fin esta a la venta y para ser sincero me agrado mucho, me latio como nos

nos adentramos mas a la forma de vida de Sentry como a traves del reloj de la Watch tower puede saber quien se encuentra en peligro el pobre se va a morir del stress con tanta cosa q hacer y la presion q se pone en cuanto el tiempo, fue una muy buena mirada al interior del Sentry y no de Robert, la platica consigo mismo en forma de Void, genial se ve q el señor tiene mucho lado oscuro encerrado en su interior, creo q eso le da mas profundidad al personaje y lo regresa a los comics como es THE GOLDEN GUARDIAN OF GOOD

El número dos del Sentry ya salió y ahora se enfoca más en la vida de Lindy, su esposa la cual nos enseña como es ccompartir la vida con un superhéroe tan poderoso y tan inestable.

Nuevamente nos mencionan como existe la posibilidad (realidad) de que la historia del origen del Sentry no sea tan Silver Age como lo han narrado los flashbacks y (Me encanta ver nombres y portadas de números de la Silver Age donde podemos ver otros villanos como la que este número hizo referencia el hippie ) Pero porfin parece que veremos al misterioso General y al parecer ya sabemos ¿¿o no?? donde anda.

Muy bien desarrollada la historia y en lo personal los chispazos retro es lo que siempre me ha llamado la atención aparte de la muy interesante psicopatía que tiene el personaje.

Después de platicar con the Void (Me gusta su gabardina) y confirmar parcialmente con cloc (Cada vez se ve más sospechoso) al parecer se le da indicios de que el General está en la Negative Zone lugar donde el sentry juró nunca ir ya que es donde Void es Invencible y quien tiene el control.


Al parecer entre cuadros nos deja ver que su perro es superperro más con el Sentry no se puede asegurar nada y aunque todo da indicio puede suceder cosas fuera de cuadro que nos hagan entrar al alucinante mundo del Sentry.

Y otra cosa muy gruesa es ver lo que aguanta Lindy y al parecer también que está enamorada del Sentry y no de Robert que a veces se ve como un perdedor completo y otras nada más el personaje más poderoso, un toque más para esta cuasi-trágica existencia.

Un hombre atormentado dentro del cuerpo de un Dios que sufre una doble personalidad (mínimo).
